Small Scale Mid Century Modern Multi-Color Geometric Abstract on Black
Dramatic abstract painting by Virginia Sevier Rogers (American, 1917-2015). Vivid colorful squares in bright blue, red, yellow, purple, and yellow impasto pop against a black background.

Virginia Sevier Rogers was born in Fort Collins, Colorado, Rogers studied with Hugh Breckenridge at the PAFA in 1934 and then earned a B.A. degree from the University of North Carolina and her M.A. at UC Berkeley. She pursued art at Berkeley and later in 1971 she moved to the Monterey Peninsula and purchased a farm on the Carmel Valley Road. Member of Society of Western artists, Artists Equity.

Virginia Sevier Rogers
Virginia Sevier Rogers studied with Hugh Breckenridge at the PAFA in 1934 and then earned a BA degree from the University of North Carolina and her MA at UC Berkeley. From the early 1940s, she was the wife of a naval officer and living in Shanghai and other places. Rogers returned to Berkeley in 1950 and had an active art career. In 1971, she moved to the Monterey Peninsula and purchased a farm on Carmel Valley Road. At her studio, Rogers taught small classes and produced paintings, batik, pottery, sculpture and a line of note cards on handmade paper.
