About the Item
It is a simple juxtaposition of pattern and image. My insecurity is that it is nostalgic, patriotic critics may even say trite. I am interested in how my children grow up. How they learn to love each other and themselves and have happy lives. Understanding and helping my children see and make sense of this world is my aim. Is my meaning of life. And so this painting is me lamenting on the meaning of life. Practically speaking, this painting is a continuation on a theme of beach paintings. This time I used image transfer for the African print background. I started to use a projection for this piece but it was too small and the pattern underneath was too strong so I did the drawing in the studio.
