Signed and dated 1890, housed in a gilt frame.
The size of the painting being 17" x 21" (43.2 x 53.3cm) whilst overall size is 67 x 56
The painting is in very good condition having had some restoration in the past and a recent clean

Albert Clark (October 1843–December 1928), was an English painter.
Born in October 1843, Clark was the second Son to acclaimed animal painter, James Clark and his wife, Elizabeth who died when Albert was a child.
Living with his father in a small town in Middlesex, South East England, Albert began to learn from James and started creating notable paintings of animals – namely horses – under the 19th century naïve style. At the age of 17, Albert Clark had defined himself as a ‘naïve animal artist’ and was first recorded under the profession on the 1861 census.His work can be found in many museums.

Albert Clark
Albert Clark was born on 29 October 1843 at Christchurch, Middlesex into the Clark family of artists. He was the son of the animal painter James Clark (1812 – 1909) and father of the artists Frederick Albert Clark (1869–1954) and William Albert Clark (1880–1963). Clark's half-brother James Albert Clark (1863–1955) was also an animal painter. He was probably taught by his father and made his debut at an early age, being recorded as an artist at the age of just 17. Clark's subject matter initially followed that of his father and he painted horses, cattle and dogs. However, Clark soon began to specialize in horse portraits and received many commissions to paint racehorses and show winners. Clark lived in Islington and Tottenham and died at Middlesex Hospital on 18 December 1928. Examples of his work can be found at the Totnes Elizabethan House Museum and Doncaster Museum.
