Artist Comments
Artist Carolyn Pennor paints a playful portrait of a raccoon sitting on a flower-filled garden. The critter loves ice cream and with its tiny hands holds onto the dripping cone as it gulps the delicious treat. "The only problem is to finish it before it melts," says Carolyn. She paints with warm and pleasant colors applied mostly with flat brushes to achieve different painting balances. Carolyn paints blooming light yellow flowers to create harmony with the colors of the ice cream and the background.

About the Artist
Carolyn’s subjects are inspired by everyday working people. Her aesthetic straddles the line between modern and folk, utilizing warm tones and simplified forms. The subjects in Carolyn’s paintings each tell a story. “When painting my characters I feel as though I have known them,” she says. After years of working in a banking environment, Carolyn is pleased to have transitioned to a more creative lifestyle. She now shares a studio with her husband, a fellow UGallery artist, and enjoys exercising her imagination and creativity.
