David Ackerson was born and educated in Iowa, where he developed a deep interest for art. In elementary school he won an art contest for a painting he did, and that was the beginning.
He received a degree in fine art from South Dakota Wesleyan University where he was awarded the prestigious Oscar Howe Art Award. David also did Masters level art studies at A&M Commerce and UT Tyler.
Having completed thirty years of teaching art in Texas schools, David is currently enjoying pursuing a career in painting with the challenges and excitement of abstract designs as well as realistic imagery, impressionistic landscapes, and Texas longhorns.
