Vibrant "portrait" of a hermit crab by Federico Leon de la Vega (Mexican, 20th Century).
Signed "Leon de la Vega" in the lower right corner.
Presented in a grey frame with a double mat.

Federico Leon de la Vega (Mexican, 20th Century) was born in Mexico City and studied Industrial Design at the Universidad Iberoamericana and earned his master's degree in Industrial Design at Auburn University. In 2004, he established the "EstudioCafe" in Neuvo Vallarta where he could live, work, eat, and exhibit his own work, as well as the work of other artists.
Leon de la Vega is probably best known for his TedX talk "Mind Your Handwriting" where he explores the meaning and beauty in penmanship.
Federico has shown in Misrachi, Alexandra, Tlalpalli, H.B., Alma Mérida, Samarkanda and Centro Cultural San Angel – Mexico City; Corona Gallery and Galeria Uno – Puerto Vallarta;Grove Gallery – Miami; Genesis Gallery, Noah’s Art and Mystic Seaport Maritime Art Gallery – Connecticut and Ambassador Galleries – New York .
Federico was previously a member of the National Society of Mural Painters. Samples of his murals can be found at the Bank of Nova Scotia/Inver at headquarters in Mexico City, the Nautilus Restaurant in Masaryk, La Valentina Restaurant, Bell Helicopter offices, the Chapultepec Amusement Park, Los Niños de la Calle headquarters, the Bianco Restaurant in Puerto Vallarta and the Patina Cafe in Greenwich, Connecticut. Patrons have also commissioned several murals for private residences in Mexico, US and Canada.
Federico taught Design at the Universidad Iberoamericana and Centro Universitario de la Costa/ Universidad de Guadalajara, and presently does lectures on Composition and Object Language.
