Painter and printmaker, born in Leeds, Yorkshire, where he studied and in London under various teachers. He was a member of ROI, RI and RSW, and a leading figure in the Yorkshire Artists and Society of Sussex Painters. Was a prolific exhibitor, showing at Fine Art Society, RA and elsewhere. Public galleries in Bradford, Leeds and Worthing hold examples. Lived latterly in Winchelsea, Sussex.

His uncle, John Sell Cotman, was one of the cornerstones of the Norwich school and a very influential watercolourist.
