Reinterpreting Chen Hongshu's Lotus and Mandarin Ducks from the Ming Dynasty, he imposes different fragments of the sky in contrasting climates. Butterflies ascend to the towering lotus flowers as two ducks glide along the water. Guigen paints the scenery frozen in space like a besieged cube.
