A whimsical moment unfolds between two animals. A tiny black bird looks up and sings to its friend, a curious horse with elongated legs. Their simple forms and bold silhouettes create a striking contrast against the soft beige background.

About the Artist
Artist Jaime Ellsworth offers charming portrayals of animals, depicting both the familiar inhabitants of her corral and those rarely seen on San Juan Island in the Pacific Northwest. "My career as a cowhand never took off, so I am glad I stumbled into art, as it still complements my passion," says Jaime. In each of her works, Jaime invites the viewer to appreciate the image's simplicity and encourages them to explore beyond the details, prompting their imagination. Alongside the straightforward shapes, her compositions convey a sense of narrative through the expressions and movements of the figures. Jaime works in her studio attached to a small barn, where her dogs, donkeys, and horses keep her company while she paints. Beyond painting, Jaime explores the outdoors with her pets and volunteers to aid animals locally and internationally.
