Dancing Through The Koppies by Jan Coutts. A striking creation with mixed media including gold Leaf & Cobalt Turquoise Pigment - it depicts one of Coutts's most treasured subjects to paint - the Cheetah. Appearing in an alert manner as it passes through the surrounding landscape of the Savannah studded with its rocky outcrops - Koppies which rise from the canvas with the gold leaf. This canvas is full of texture and atmosphere. New Zealander Jan Coutts, moved to London to study at Camden Art School, Central St Martins and the Royal College of Art. Her portrayals of animals that inhabit the African plains are inspired by her travels to the Serengeti & Ngorongoro conservation ares of Tanzania. With an experimental approach, Jan mixes layers of different media and texture to capture speed, moemetn, light and pattern in her personal view of the wild.

Jan Coutts
New Zealander Jan Coutts moved to London to study at Camden Art School, Central St Martins and the Royal College of Art. Her portrayals of the animals that inhabit the African plains are inspired by her travels to the Serengeti and Ngorongoro Conservation areas of Tanzania. With an experimental approach, Coutts mixes layers of texture to capture speed, movement, light and pattern in her personal view of the wild. Coutts' original work on bark cloth, using clay, earth and ash images creates a unique way of expressing the ultimate timelessness of savannah life.
