Artist Jessica JH Roller shares a playful portrait of a mouse wearing a yellow knit winter bonnet. "Sometimes a mouse needs a cup of hot chocolate," says Jessica. She paints energetic and enthusiastic colors while retaining an atmosphere of coziness. The thick outlines against the bold red background allow the animated image to pop.
About the Artist
A few months after Jessica JH Roller and her husband were married, they adopted two young Siamese cats from a shelter -- Tony and Larry. Jessica quickly fell deeply in love with the kittens and says the cats changed her. "They opened my eyes - I started to notice birds, trees, water, color, everything. It was as if the artist inside had been unleashed.†Jessica uses bold colors and primitive linework to create whimsical, expressive portraits. She intends to capture real or imagined moments that are both common and extraordinary.

Artist John Jaster paints in a style he describes as realistic impressions, capturing colorful views of his adventures across the Americas. "People always ask me how I get such deep brilliant colors," says John. "The answer is layers. Since acrylic paint dries mostly transparent, it requires multiple layers of paint to build up to a specific color.
