About the Item

A large print of John Gould & Henry Constantine Richter Pheasants II from his published book " Birds of Australia ". John Gould was influenced by James Audubon paintings of birds work and traveled the world John Gould traveled around the world, collected bird skins from different countries and published the “Birds of Great Britain, The Birds of Asia, The Birds of Australia, The Birds of New Guinea, A Monograph of the Trochilidae or Family of Humming-Birds, The Birds of Europe, A Monograph of Ramphastidae or Family of Toucans, A Monograph of the Trogonidae or family of Trogons, and A Century of Birds hitherto unfigured from the Himalaya Mountains”. His Birds were printed as hand-colored stone lithographs and the initial compositional drawings were made by John Gould himself. The large print is a reproduction of John Gould work and is finely matted and framed in a custom burl wood frame. Dimensions: 28.25" H x 35.25" W x 1" D
