Dramatic animal portrait by notable San Francisco muralist Joshua Coffy (American, 1976-2023). This piece is a red-tailed hawk, shown in portrait and in flight. The background is composed of green squares with copper stripes.
Signed, dated, and titled on verso "joshua coffy 2012 Glen Canyon Citizens Red Tailed Hawk" along with artist's websites.
Joshua Coffy (American, 1976-2023) was a muralist based out of San Francisco. He was a prolific artist - focusing primarily on animals in a whimsical style - and one year decided to paint a new painting every day. For several years he worked as a sign artist at Trader Joe's, but became a self-employed full-time artist in 2012. As a muralist, was comissioned to create murals for the SF Marathon, a Noise Pop Block Party, and the Treasure Island Music Festival, among others.
