Combining my love of bunnies and my enjoyment of vintage Victorian style was born a few portraits of animal headed old-timey paintings. Portrait of Lady Rabbit explores gender roles. The landscape is barren and eerie-looking as in a dream, inviting the viewer to drift as is her gaze, empty and listless. This piece is about my ambivalence and uncertainty about my role as a woman in modern society, although given many choices many women still find themselves at home responsible for children.
About the Artist
Kat Silver’s surrealist paintings project something whimsical and enticing within their dream-like plots. They expose the inner conflicts in Kat’s life, which are revealed through the imagery of her dreams and the symbolism encountered in her daily life. These conflicts are universal, demonstrating an obsession with time, choice, and fate. The image of the rabbit has become an important symbol and signature in Kat’s work. For her, the rabbit represents power and taking control of one’s life. The sweet, confident groups of rabbits surround the lost, faceless characters in her paintings. We may not know where we are going, but we have guides along the way if we look for them.

As a part of artist Rachel Srinivasan's Rodeo Series, the painting explores the symbolism of the five pentacles tarot card. About the Artist
For Rachel Srinivasan, an idea is worth putting on a canvas only if it still feels exciting after a few days. Rachel enjoys mulling the idea over in her mind for some time before creating an artwork. She hopes viewers will engage with her work and wonder about the subject matter, shapes and colors. "My current work is all about creating a connection between the person on the canvas with the viewer," she explains. She prefers large paintings and sometimes even makes her own canvases. She currently lives in Arizona and enjoys baking rhubarb pies, reading, running and going to art museums.
