Artist Statements:
The inspiration for Lau Wai Leng's paintings comes from her childhood toys and the little things that surround her. Fruits and vegetables are main subjects in her paintings, appearing plump and glossy, and occupying most of the scales of paintings. Some of these fruits and vegetables wear straw hats and are accompanied by rubber ducks or paper origami cranes. They represent fond memories and a source of energy that motivates Lau in her sweet and bitter life. Lau sees straw hats as symbols of hard and honest work, while origami cranes symbolize blessings. This series of works depicts optimism and goodness in the small things that surround us, offering warmth and comfort during challenging times."
Ship in tube:
