About the Item

A charming and rare dog etching "Sleeping Bull" by renowned artist Marion Needham Krupp, featuring her own dog, a beloved Bull Terrier, peacefully resting. This limited edition dog etching of a Bull Terrier (No. 21 of 125) is hand-signed by the artist in the lower right corner and framed. Krupp is one of the few contemporary artists working in the centuries-old technique of etching, first developed in the 16th century. A timeless and elegant addition to any dog art or fine print collection. Framed size is 12 x 12 inches. The plexiglass needs to be replaced. She had won several First Place Awards for hand-pulled prints (etchings), the Montgomery Kennel Club Award for "Best Entry Depicting a Terrier" and "Best Entry Depicting a Dachshund" at the Art Show at the Dog Show; "Best Painting" and "Best Hand-Pulled Print" awards from the Dog Fanciers Club. She received her formal art training at the High School of Art and Design in New York City, New York University, Parson School of Design and Brooklyn College from which she earned a Bachelor of Arts degree. She is a member of the Scottish Terrier Club of America, the Scottish Terriers Breeders and Exhibitors Association in England, the Dachshund Club of England, the Scottish Terrier Club of Greater New York and the Dog Writers Association of America. Marion's artwork appears in numerous permanent collections including the American Kennel Club Museum of the Dog in St. Louis, Missouri, the United Kennel Club in London, the Philadelphia Zoological Society and in many private collections throughout the United States, Canada, England, Scotland, France, the Netherlands, Sweden, Finland, South America, Australia, New Zealand, Russia and Japan. Some of her artwork was in the residential area of the White House when President George Bush, his wife, Laura and their Scotties, Barney and Miss Beazley resided there. She has exhibited at various regional and national shows and galleries. The exhibitions include the Art Show at the Dog Show in Wichita, Kansas; "Contemporary American Dog Paintings" at the William Secord Gallery in New York City; the Society of Illustrators in New York City; the Dog Fanciers Club in New York City; "Audubon Society Wildlife Exhibition" in New Hope, Pennsylvania; American Kennel Club Museum of the Dog's "Artists Registry Exhibition" in St. Louis, Missouri; "Animals in Art" at Louisiana State University in Baton Rouge, Louisiana; "Animal Imagery Art Show" at St. Hubert's Giralda in Madison, New Jersey and a one woman art show at St. Hubert's Giralda. Throughout her career, Marion has won numerous awards for her paintings, drawings and etchings. The awards include "Best of Show", "Award of Distinction" for painting from St. Hubert's Giralda's Animal Imagery Show and in 2010 "Best of Show" at the inaugural juried art show at the Morris and Essex Dog Show with her painting of a Borzoi. Marion has done illustrations and advertising art for stories, books, magazines and veterinarian supplies for a variety of companies and publishers.
