Morgan Cameron
"Wanderer, " Oil Painting

2021

About the Item

Morgan Cameron’s (US based) “Wanderer” is an oil painting on panel that depicts a Bison in the wild. This painting is unframed, but ready to hang. About the artist: I am an oil painter based out of Southern Maine. My subject matter focuses mainly on animals and capturing a sense of movement and narrative through the captivating style of disrupted-realism. Living creatures are constantly moving, especially animals and I strive to capture that movement in my art. This may be why I am drawn to looser forms and brushwork in paintings. It is less precise and leaves room for improvisation during the creation process and makes gestures of ideas that the viewer can decipher as they wish. Life moves and thrives in unpredictable ways while taking on a rhythm of its own and I strive to express this in my artwork. I aim to assist the subject with the appearance of movement and life and to meld the forms to create something that feels united throughout the painting as a whole. I use several different tools to achieve this and I’m constantly trying to develop all their uses and possibilities, many of which are discovered during creation process itself. I was born and raised in the small rural town of Dover-Foxcroft, ME. My family had a farm with many animals and lots of land and I spent most of my time outside with my pony and dogs or exploring the woods on foot. I have always found a closeness with animals and surrounding myself them nourishes my soul and inspires my artwork. I loved riding both Western and Dressage and I would draw my horses constantly. Although my range of subject matter has expanded, equines still remain one of my favorites. I have a passion for all animals and since I was young I learned to observe their beautiful anatomy and movements and how to capture their essence on paper. Eventually I would discover painting and this sent me on the path I'm still on today. I now live in Gray, ME with my husband and our dog. My husband is a Pianist/Composer and we’ve spent our years traveling and growing artistically together. This has given me the chance to explore new things and gain new, fresh inspiration for my art time and time again as well as share it everywhere we have lived, settling at last in our home-state of Maine. I have shown my artwork across the country and hope to continue to paint and grow as an artist for the rest of my life.

  • Ordinary miracle
    Located in Zofingen, AG
"I still remember my memories from childhood, when the horse bowed its velvet muzzle over me. Her huge wet eyes, which you couldn't keep your eyes off, are framed by fluffy long eyelashes. I saw in its eyes another unreal fairy-tale world. Adults said, just stroke her, it asks you. And I thought it wanted to tell me some secret. And I always wanted to learn horse language to understand it. This is what my painting "Ordinary Miracle" is about. The horse still remains a fabulous creature for me. It is like a magical vehicle that can take you to a wonderland and fulfill your innermost desire. It connects me to the world of mystery and magic." Size of the canvas: 70*50 cm. The painting will look great in a classic and modern style interior. It is suitable for kids or a nursery room...

  • Waiting on Brandy, original 24 x 28 figurative equestrian hunt landscape
    Located in Spring Lake, NJ
The thrill of traversing the beautiful spring countryside rushes color to their cheeks, tightens their calves, lowers their heels and steadies their hands as they ready for the hunt. The horn is sounded, the hounds begin chase and the riders reassure their horse while urging them forward. The scent of the fox, the chase, the jumping across the creeks and over downed branches has come to an end for another equestrian hunt shared with the other highly regarded club members. They walk their horses for a while as the horses and hounds cool down and the riders are waiting on brandy to mellow out the day's excitement. With pristine riding gear intact they let their minds wander to both family and club hunts and events of times gone by. Artist Joseph Sundwall...
