As I begin a painting, my first thought is of the great, majestic outdoors and all that inhabit it. Where from a distance or up close within reach, I see what catches my eye as an artist and what I wish to share within a painting. For example, a tree grows and is alive. It provides shade from the sun, air that we breathe, and a home for wildlife. Even with its decaying end, that tree provided needed nutrients for the soil below. And that is why I pay homage to trees and paint them as beautifully as possible." Robert Fobear
