English Portrait of a Jack Russell Terrier dog in a landscape, 'Flusie'

Circa 1944

About the Item

English Portrait of a Jack Russell Terrier dog in a landscape, 'Flusie' William Albert Clark was an English animal portrait painter. He was the son of the famous Victorian animal painter, Albert Clark. He lived and worked in London, where he painted horses, cattle and very rarely dog portraits. Just like the other members of his family who were painters William's paintings were in great demand, like they are now. This piece is a very very rare dog portrait, most of what he painted were horses and there were very few dog portraits painted by Clark. This is a great piece and a rare example of an early Jack Russell breed. The piece is framed in an antique English frame and the painting is in great original condition.
