Rain by Amelia Caruso Abstract Acrylic painting on Board 20x9" image size, *diptych 27x16" matted and framed ABOUT THE ARTIST: Amelia was born in Cincinnati in 1962 and stayed in the area until 1996 when she moved to Colorado. Amelia attended the Arts Academy of Cincinnati and the University of Cincinnati. She was actually a Documentary Photography Major in college and brings that sense of “composing inside the viewfinder” to her paintings.Her work as been exhibited in galleries and museums across the country. Amelia has had work on Emmy Award winning television shows such as Will & Grace in the 90’s through the mid 2000’s. Now she has found a more purposeful & powerful work with the introspective look of her current direction. The relationship of the conscious and unconscious is her subject matter now. Zeal Harris is known for creating seductive, caricaturesque, political, urban-vernacular, story paintings, with a blunt mix of high-brow/low-brow elements. Her micro-narratives offer socio-political commentary about a range of larger issues that often have to do with the layered experiences of race, class, gender, and sexuality. Almost always, the work is based on contemporary real life stories or events in daily life.
