About the Item
"Eye" features thick pools of clear, black and white acrylic with embedded metallic slivers and tiny plastic beads to enhance the texture, along with geometric planes of translucent color. The textural element immediately reminded me of some kind of storm or looking down at the weather patterns of an unexplored new planet. To me, the planes of color suggest some technological means of discovery. I've always been fascinated by the idea of space travel, and I'm also concerned about the environment we live in now. This piece seems to connect to both of these thoughts, and perhaps expresses the inherent tension between them. This canvas is mounted to premium grade reinforced stretcher with hanging wire installed. The sides of the canvas are painted a medium gray.
