Biography:
Dan May is an American painter and printmaker born on March 11, 1955 in San Francisco, CA. Raised in aesthetic surroundings heavily influenced by his architect father, May grew up learning to view all things with an eye for design, color, and shape. At age 5, he remembers his father cutting up a book of drawings by Henri Matisse and hanging them on the walls of their home. The French master Matisse as well as Richard Diebenkorn and David Hockney are his favorite art influences. He began his first attempts at painting at age 15, and later began to experiment with printmaking, teaching himself various techniques such as woodblock printing, etching, silkscreen printing, and monoprinting.
Monoprinting soon became May's medium of choice due to its wide range of expression and spontaneity that he felt other techniques lacked. May - "With monoprinting, you can only work a piece for as a long as the paint stays wet, so the resulting print has a feeling of movement and immediacy. I also like how monoprinting allows the brush strokes to transfer a transparent light quality to the print. For me, this is a technique that bridges drawing...

Woo Hoo
By John Randall Nelson
Located in Los Angeles, CA
John Randall Nelson’s paintings are layered with his own personal language consisting of patterns, symbols, and archetypes that may not make any literal sense but play on subconscious associations. His paintings are thick with paint, poured pigment and saturated washes with layers of drawing and collage.
While Nelson's work is akin to outsider, folk art, it should be noted that he received his MFA from Arizona State...

Double Dog Dream - Original Pop Art Painting on Canvas
By Marion Duschletta
Located in Los Angeles, CA
Swiss artist Marion Duschletta transforms luxury objects and urban landscapes from around the world into unique layered artworks. She combines an intriguing mixture of urban photographs and American pop icons opposite brand names and advertising references, adding bold colors and compelling patterns. She transfers them onto archival paper which is mounted on canvas. The pop art imagery is often distressed in an attempt to emphasize a bygone era. She further enhances the artworks with acrylic paint and texture, adding depth to her paintings.
This vibrant one-of-a-kind 8 inch post-pop square artwork is created with mixed media on canvas. The sides of the artwork are finished with a textured white paint, and it does not require framing. Convenient local Los Angeles area shipping. Affordable U.S. and global shipping also available. A certificate of authenticity issued by the art gallery is included with this unique artwork.
Marion Duschletta was born in 1972 in Graubünden, Switzerland. She has been a full time professional artist since 2004. For over ten years, she was the owner of Galerie Mauerblümchen in Zürich, Switzerland. Due to her increasing international success as a fine artist she now focuses exclusively on creating unique artworks.
Her popular series of artworks include cities such as New York, Miami, Las Vegas, Los Angeles, London as well as American Pop Icons such as Marilyn Monroe, Audrey Hepburn and Chanel. Notable collectors include Ariel Winter, Los Angeles, CA.
