The wings will bring you home or Pegasus IV, Painting, Oil on Canvas

2023

About the Item

The winged Pegasus, a white horse with golden wings that can fly, is a magical mythical creature familiar to us from Greek myths. Since ancient times, Pegasus has been a symbol of success, inspiration, and fame. Poets and singers of ancient Greece considered him their patron. He flew freely through the sky, becoming the cherished dream of many people. Rushing across the sky, it really resembled a sparkling miracle, as it is described by ancient authors. The beautiful winged horse immediately became a favorite of the Muses. Pegasus is one of the most extraordinary creatures created by the imagination of people. In the myths he is shown as a peaceful creature, an assistant to heroes and gods, without him works of art generated by winged inspiration would not have appeared. Pegasus is a symbol of good forces, spiritual growth, eloquence, glory, contemplation, the interconnectedness of all living things Pegasus is a manifestation of bright and beautiful inspiration that allows us to find wings – even if invisible. :: Painting :: Contemporary :: This piece comes with an official certificate of authenticity signed by the artist :: Ready to Hang: Yes :: Signed: Yes :: Signature Location: bottom right and verso :: Canvas :: Diagonal :: Original :: Framed: No

In the middle of the road
By Dana Frankfort
Located in Houston, TX
Dana Frankfort In the middle of the road, 2017 oil on canvas over panel 48 x 48 x 1.75 inches For over two decades, Dana Frankfort has explored the vexing periphery between language and sight by painting words. Rather than laying claim to the paintings, controlling their semiotic pulse, her words serve as the formal armature; they prop up, ventilate, and allow the many layers of paint to breathe. Imperatives, allusions, evocations—the words dissolve into a palimpsest of obscured serifs and stems, into color and form. The title of the work is a phrase from a poem by Carlos Drummond de Andrade’s “In the Middle of Road.” Here it is, translated from the Portuguese by Elizabeth Bishop...
