About the Item
"Face to Face" by Aba Linus is a thought-provoking and enigmatic artwork that presents a powerful visual representation of human connection and communication. In this piece, two young men are depicted facing each other, both blindfolded with a white cloth. The title, "Face to Face," hints at the central theme of the artwork, which explores the nuances of human interaction and the barriers that can obstruct our ability to truly understand one another.
The blindfolds symbolize the limitations and preconceived notions that can hinder effective communication. By obscuring their vision, the subjects are forced to rely on other senses and non-verbal cues to connect. This piece encourages viewers to reflect on the ways in which we perceive and relate to one another, highlighting the importance of empathy, active listening, and the willingness to step out of our comfort zones to truly engage in meaningful dialogue.
The use of a white cloth as the blindfold carries a sense of purity and neutrality, underlining the idea that meaningful connections between individuals should transcend biases and judgments. "Face to Face" challenges us to question our assumptions and biases and prompts us to approach interpersonal relationships with an open heart and mind.
Aba Linus' "Face to Face" is a compelling work that invites viewers to contemplate the complexity of human interaction and the transformative power of genuine communication. It serves as a reminder that understanding one another often requires a willingness to remove the blindfolds we carry and truly engage in a face-to-face, open-hearted exchange.

- Last ShotLocated in Ibadan, OyoAt the heart of "Last Shot" is a young woman, the central character of this evocative piece. She is fully absorbed in the game of snooker, her posture and facial expression revealing intense concentration and determination. The artist has deliberately obscured all the colored snooker balls, leaving only the white ball visible. This compositional choice draws the viewer's attention to the player's anticipation of her "last shot." The backdrop of "Last Shot" is a dimly lit snooker hall, creating an atmosphere of suspense and intrigue. The faint glow of overhead lights accentuates the drama of the moment, casting shadows that add depth and complexity to the scene. The absence of details surrounding the white ball and the player's narrowed focus on it contributes to the overall feeling of precision and concentration. "Last Shot" is a visual metaphor for life's critical moments—those decisive occasions when everything hinges on a single move. By obscuring the colored balls and leaving only the white ball visible, the artwork symbolizes the importance of making the right choices, even when faced with uncertainty and obscurity. The young woman's unwavering focus on her last shot encourages viewers to consider their own pivotal moments in life. It prompts reflection on the significance of each action and the consequences that follow, reminding us that sometimes, a single move can determine the course of our journey. - Local #2Located in Nashville, TNArtist Nathaniel Covington constructs bold, colorfully sculpted papier-mâché monster masks and large, pop art creature paintings. His art pieces have simple lines, set against solid color backgrounds. For Nathaniel, the process starts with rough sketches on paper, wood, skateboards - just about anything he can draw on, allowing him the vision to finalize his art. The making of masks started about 3 years ago and he fell in love with the process. It’s an opportunity to bring to life all the “Creatures” and wildly funny things living in my head. He says, "I’d like the art pieces that I make to evoke some sort of emotion when they are seen.” He’s predominately influenced by 1969’s-1980’s “Creature Feature Films”, horror soundtracks, Sci-Fi magazines, plus a dash of Ed Roth.Category
