About the Item
The style of the artist Airo is called "retrofuturism" or "Russian cosmism." This is a popular and growing trend among artists and collectors around the world. He connects the past with the future in the present. The artist uses various types of techniques to create his own special expression.
Sergei Airo was born in 1960 in the city of Novorossiysk (Krasnodar region) in the artist's family. In 1991, Sergei showed interest in the so-called "primitivism". His attention is drawn to the works and images of mythical life. After that the artist was concentrated on the study of medieval masters. Mainly exploring the religious direction and influence of Flemish medieval artists. In 1996, Sergei Airo presents a series of works at the Airspace Design exhibition in Air France. He is a permanent member of the Union of Artists, the Association of New Artists and the Society of Fine Arts, on the personal recommendation of Zurab Tsereteli. His paintings were presented at exhibitions in Switzerland, Dubai and Russia.
The artist calls the style in which he works “Russian cosmism”. Surrealistic paintings are distinguished by a special technique of execution. Airo artificially ages his work, making it "wise." According to the artist, the idea of aging paintings is rooted in family history: “When I was little and we were going to have dinner at our family table, my mother always put her father’s painting under a hot frying pan. The whole house was littered with his paintings. And everyone thought how beautiful it was that the pan was on the painting! Can you imagine what happened to the paintings over time? They got dirty from fat, broke, cracked from the heat,” he recalls.
Today Sergei’s works are kept in private collections in Austria, Great Britain, Germany, Norway, the USA, France, Switzerland, Sweden, and other countries.
In addition to painting, the artist is engaged in the creation of installations, interior items and digital art.

Those who are confident in their feelings (love)
By Igor Fomin
Located in Fort Lee, NJ
At all time they are together, a man and a woman. Duality of differences, two views, different accents, but in one wholeness. Fomin is a fairy-tale artist, a romance teller, who is choosing never ending life stories for a viewer. He is telling these stories with realistic language of the artist, citing the language of Bruegel sentimental sincerity of Chagall, but also a precise coloristic scheme, that was a signature of French Art in the second half of XX century.
The fantastic World of the artist is perfectly detailed that makes it truthful. This artistic language principle defined the style of the artist long before he entered the Art World market. His love for Italian Renaissance was born in Minsk during his study years. Art, Music and Architecture made Igor Fomin...
