About Artist
With his figurative works which constantly explore the display of natural African culture, John Akande comes across as an artist with a refreshing viewpoint in a saturated field.
Born, bred, and raised in Lagos, Nigeria, his early influences were his traditional and cultural environment as well as an artist for an elder sibling. Despite being self-taught, he holds a Higher National Diploma (HND) in Fine Art from the Yaba College Of Technology, Lagos.
As a proponent of expressionism mixed with a healthy dose of realism, he expresses himself on a whole range of mediums from acrylic to oil. John's works are vibrant in colors and a delight to the optical senses.
