Dennenappel Pine Apple Nature Still Life Woods Contemporary Realism In Stock
Albert Greving (1963, Hijken, the Netherlands) Among enthusiasts, he soon became known in Groningen as the Groninger Morandi. The persistent way in which Albert Greving repeatedly worked out still lifes in soft tones seemed to confirm this somewhat dangerous qualification. But Greving gradually allowed himself greater freedom in terms of theme and painting technique, thereby invalidating the comparison.
'I mainly paint still lifes in oil paint, and occasionally I draw with silver pen. On the one hand, I try to remain as faithful as possible to the subject, but on the other hand, I also want to leave some room for the viewer's own imagination. I find a lot of inspiration in the work of painters from the past, from different countries and periods.
As a result, my work is realistic, with as many superfluous (and distracting) details omitted as possible. And that is how, if all goes well, the image is created.
For a while, I focused on painting garments, particularly christening gowns and women's underwear. These are objects that bring their own associations. I find that a nice bonus, but now I concentrate mainly on the play of light and the expression of the fabric.'
