About the Item
Alex Folla was born in Oggiono in 1980. After earning his academic diploma with the highest honors from the Brera Academy of Fine Arts, he specialized with top honors in painting at the Academy of Fine Arts in Carrara. His artistic research immediately directed him towards the naturalistic representation of the human figure, and he was particularly drawn to the painting techniques used by the Masters of Italian Seicento, technically referred to as "pittura a risparmio." Since 2005, he has embarked on an intense exhibition activity both in Italy and abroad. In 2015, he organized an exhibition with an associated workshop on the theme of Italian Seicento painting in Russia, at the Triumph Gallery in Moscow, and subsequently in the USA, at Fontbonne University in St. Louis, Missouri. At the same university, he conducted a course on Caravaggesque painting. In 2016, in collaboration with the Getty Museum, he organized an exhibition with an associated workshop at the Italian Cultural Institute in Los Angeles on the theme of Renaissance painting.
Since then, both his academic and artistic activities have continued in Italy and abroad, and he has created numerous commissioned works, the most recent being "Gigantomachia," a mural painting spanning over 200 square meters at the Galleria Vik in Galleria Vittorio Emanuele in Milan.
