Contemporary art uses the past by researching and investigating it. Artworks are open questions rather than artistic statements. As the ‘great narrative’ faded out of fashion, understanding began to require more than one single narrative and artists began to develop their own idioms and worlds. The powerful colors intensify or reduce the sensation of spatial movement and three-dimensionality of his works.
On the subject of his new works the artist stated: “There is not enough orange, yellow and red in the world to express the dry incandescence of the worlds that I dream about. The characters are drenched by light and drugged with brilliant colors. Shapes are irradiated by the hot atmosphere and purified, they will be tightened and clarified until they begin to resemble with figures from the beginning of the world, massive, brutal and candid in the same time. It is a hot, imperfect, human geometry. It is a hectic order of strong emotions, of feelings without hue. Everything into a torrid light.”

Slumbering Spirit, Figurative original painting by Tetiana Pchelnykova
Located in Zofingen, AG
In the serene stillness of "Slumbering Spirit," part of my contemplative "Thoughts" series, I explore the profound quietude of rest. The painting captures a woman in repose, the very image of tranquility as she lies beneath the delicate branches of a young apple tree, her sleep undisturbed by the world's whispers.
The ancient symbols etched upon her shoulder speak of "spirit," hinting at the unseen energy that animates us all, even in our most restful moments. This slumbering form is a sanctuary of peace, her dreams a hidden realm where the spirit roams free.
Above her, the apple branches bow gently, a nod to the biblical Eve's apple, symbolizing knowledge, temptation, and the duality of innocence and awareness. It is a fruit laden with the weight of history, yet here it is presented anew, in a light untainted by the past's shadows.
This work is an invitation to pause, to reflect on the spirit within and the nature that surrounds us, to find the sacred in the everyday. "Slumbering Spirit" is a celebration of the inner quiet that nourishes the soul and a recognition of the profound narratives that sleep can tell.

Eva's Legacy, Figurative original painting by Tetiana Pchelnykova
Located in Zofingen, AG
This painting is an attempt to blend ancient symbols, contemporary understanding of feminine essence, and profound philosophical contemplations inspired by existentialism and phenomenology. The woman, represented in the image of Eve, stands as an eternal symbol of the beginning of life and the mother of all humanity. Symbols on her body, derived from the idols of the Trypillian culture, speak to the age-old connection of our people with nature, land, and spirituality. The Tree of Life with its apples embodies the immortal bond with lineage and ancestors, as well as a reflection on existence, self-awareness in the world, and relations with others. Existentialist and phenomenological philosophies emphasize individual experience and perception of the world, which are perfectly captured in this painting. Each apple represents a memory passed down from generation to generation, a reminder of roots that deeply reach into the history of our people, and contemplations about our place in the universe.

Located in Zofingen, AG
"Journey Home: Preserving Serenity" by Tetiana Pchelnikova is an embodiment of her continuous and profound contemplation of the role of women in society, expressed in visually rich works imbued with symbolism and philosophical resonance. This piece from her "Existence" series carries the magic of intuitive understanding of the feminine essence, intertwined with themes of eternity, self-identification, and a deep connection with nature.
In this work, Pchelnikova employs a mixed technique of acrylic paints and oil pastel graphics, creating a multi-layered visual language that embodies her vision. The canvas size of 50x50 cm with gallery stretching .
This piece deeply reflects the artist's philosophy, where the woman is seen as the conduit of noble strength from past generations and the creator of family strength. It portrays the woman's journey towards self-discovery and maintaining inner peace, despite the challenges of the external world.
Through her creation, Pchelnikova invites the viewer to reflect on the importance of connecting our past with the present, bridging tradition and innovation. This work opens a pathway to a deeper understanding of the modern world through the prism of philosophical ideas such as Existentialism and Phenomenology.
"Journey Home: Preserving Serenity" is not just aesthetically appealing but also a powerful medium for reflection, self-discovery, and dialogue with the world through art.
