About the Item
Alysha Grace Marko, an Italian-American painter, and actress was inspired by a screenplay she wrote (of the same name) when she created "A Coveted Thing." The piece features a surrealistic narrative including abstract details and bright colors, a hanging dress, feet on a bed, and a kitchen scene on tv from the perspective of the viewer. The dimensions are 36 x 51 inches, created in 2020. Signed by the artist on front and back of piece. Hooks or wire depending on preference will be implemented on the back of frame.
Artist Biography:
Alysha Grace Marko is an NYC-based painter and the owner of AMRM Gallery. Growing up, Alysha was always involved in art: singing, dancing, and theatre. Moving around constantly in her childhood, Alysha grew to love the adventure of being on the go and meeting new people all the time. Alysha went to the University of Massachusetts Amherst and later graduated from Seton Hall University with a degree in psychology.
After graduating, Alysha pursued her successful acting and modeling career in Los Angeles, appearing in Elle and Playboy Magazine as well as numerous films, television, and theatre productions. It was in L.A. where she found her love of painting. With her background in psychology, painting became a form of archetypal psychoanalysis of society and self-reflection. She continued her studies in New York, taking courses at the Arts Student League while working for The Switzer Group, an architectural interior design firm.
In 2019, Alysha Marko founded UEast75 Gallery, now AMRM Gallery, marrying her love of art and her love of meeting new people, especially artists. Alysha’s works combine the surreal with the figurative world, creating emotional pieces with her strokes of oil paint. Her works are in collections all over the world, including in Italy and Brazil. “For me, painting is an adventure full of self-discovery… and I love getting messy!” says the artist in her paint-covered tank top dress.

Alysha Grace Marko
New York City-based artist, Alysha Marko is a figural and abstract painter from Central New Jersey. Growing up, Alysha moved around the US which allowed her social personality to butterfly. With a father who documented everything, Alysha grew comfortable in the face of a camera. Alysha loved the adventure of being on the go and the revolving door of new people to meet. She loved singing, dancing, and several different sports which all taught her to be outgoing. “I love being around people and experiencing new things. I think that's really where it may have come from was moving around a lot, just being able to pick up and move every two years”
Later, Alysha went to the University of Massachusetts Amherst and graduated from Seton Hall University with a degree in psychology.
This comfortability in the spotlight flourished into a career in modeling and acting. While in LA, Alysha pursued modeling and acting where she was featured in ELLE Magazine, Playboy, several films, and theatre productions. Alysha moved on to become an abstract and figural artist based in New York City. Her work is full of color, and movement, and is often inspired by the world around her. Portraits of herself and her friends are just two of the common representations seen in her work
“Looking in the mirror and painting myself is a way to figure myself out, but also, I like to paint my friends if they're there. I'm always with myself, so it's easy to pick up a mirror and just have a subject and study. Lately, I've been trying to uncover these things by ripping apart the image of you.”
Heavily influenced by her psychology study, Alysha has used her experiences to uncover herself and how she displays herself in the art world. Themes of narcissism, vanity, essence of the individual, and sense of speech are where Alysha’s work is born. The use of texture, color, art historical tradition, and psychological figures combine to create paintings like Rodin in the Sun (2023), Candyland (2019), and Diamond Dice (2018). In 2019, along with partner Renelio Marin, Alysha started the UEast75 gallery that lived just a few blocks away from The Met, The Institute of Fine arts, and the Frick Museum. Now called AMRM gallery, Alysha has come to represent many different artists in a two-story gallery space. Angela China, David Richardson, and Nancy Pantirer are just three of the talented artists represented at the gallery.

Ryan: Contemporary Abstract Oil Painting
By Alysha Grace Marko
Located in New York, NY
"Ryan" is a contemporary figurative oil painting completed in the summer of 2022, featuring a man in front of an abstract background. The contrast between the extreme abstraction of the background and the figurative foreground makes for a striking and energetic piece.
The model of the piece is Ryan, a close friend of the painter. On one summer night after a few glasses of wine, Alysha decided to paint Ryan in her studio. "I love painting from life, it translates so much better for me," said the artist.

Florus, Bold Abstract Painting, Vibrant Contemporary Artwork, Expressionist Art
By Catherine Pennington-Meyer
Located in Deddington, GB
Florus is an original abstract painting by Catherine Pennington-Meyer. The title of this piece means ‘bright’ or ‘rich’ in Latin. A vibrant expressionist abstract full of energy. It will bring a splash of positivity and colour to any scheme.
Discover more of Catherine Pennington-Meyer's original artwork with Wychwood Art online and in our Oxfordshire gallery. Catherine is an award-winning artist who currently lives and works near Munich, in Germany. Her work concentrates primarily on abstract expressionism. Catherine has participated in exhibitions throughout Europe and has quickly established a prestigious international collector base. Catherine says of her art: `I see my painting as a kind of language, translating what I feel or experience to those viewing it. I am innately drawn to create raw, emotive, expressionist pieces, mostly abstracts, which distil a subject down to its feeling. I don`t only want my art to be `beautiful` but for it to reach out and touch the person who is viewing it on an immediate, intuitive level. I want my paintings to speak to their audience in their own visceral language. I am influenced by nature, particularly the multifaceted nature of water, and memories of growing up in particularly beautiful landscapes in North Yorkshire and Scotland. I also find human psychology and science fascinating. But I see compositions everywhere, whether it be flowers in a park, the way smoke curls, books on a library shelf or a street market. Everything is made up of shapes and colours. The world is a constant source influences and inspiration.’ Over time, as her work has developed, she has been increasingly compelled towards abstraction, through which she feels able to communicate an energy which is untethered by the constraints of realism. She enjoys playing with light, depth and movement in her art to give it immediacy and to draw a viewer into the composition. Catherine also enjoys poetry, and her works occasionally have accompanying narratives. Catherine views visual and written art...
