About the Item

Untitled Mixed media on canvas Size 100x100 cm Andrea Stella Florence 1950 - 2019 A gifted genius born in Florence of Greek heritage, resided alternately in two cities that are the most important cradles of humanistic art: During his artistic journey, the cultures of Florence and Athens combined in his work. The harmonies of the Italian Renaissance are also evident in his work. The Greek-Byzantine golds and colors are skillfully incorporated, resulting in a unique synthesis of styles. At a young age, his art career began when he created a large wooden bas-relief of the Baptistery of Florence, featuring the coat of arms of the city. This work was later placed in the Vatican Museums. Other works from the period he studied in Florence can also be found in Palazzo Pitti, as well as in some churches from the Romanesque and medieval eras in Tuscany. His artistic talent led him to pursue these studies, delving deeply into the subject matter to achieve exceptional results that made his works unique for their time. He became a true alchemist. Stella's mixed media works are illuminated through alchemical alterations and the use of organic materials such as wood, gold, silver, and copper. This combination creates a deep connection with the divine and his religious inspiration. Stella represents his love for nature and music in his works, as he was also a musician. Harmony is integral to his creations, allowing him to delve into the inner soul of his works. He lived and worked in an ancient convent in Bibbiano-Pelago near Florence. The peaceful surroundings of the Tuscan countryside provided inspiration for his muses as he meditated, created, and held workshops in the true tradition of Florentine art, sharing his secrets. His inner journey of vision was reflected in his work. They gave way to creation, providing us with the evocative and poetic nature of his figures that represent the search for his inner essentiality of the introspective human. Here, they reached the most intimate and profound key to art: the voyage of beauty through la luce Divina, the Divine Light. These neo-chromatic works gave life to the 'new renaissance' pictorial content. During his lifetime, Andrea Stella received many prestigious honors and awards. His works were exhibited in major exhibitions such as Galleria degli Uffizi, Palazzo Medici Riccardi, Palazzo Vecchio, and the Hermitage Museum.
