Andrée Bars
“Our Destiny”, Anchor Spider Web Girl Standing on a Rope Symbolist Oil Painting

2022

About the Item

Titled "Our destiny", this hyperrealistic and symbolist original oil painting by Andrée Bars depicts a young funambul girl holding a spear and toy balloons, tightrope walking in front of the back side of a stretched painting canvas , a spider web and books being the background. Through this unique artwork, the artist expresses the idea that the human being is always torn between the anchors which hold us to reality (for example our habits) and our aspirations, our dreams. We walk on a thread, and can fall on one side or the other. We are supported by the knowledge, symbolized by the books. This painting is stretched on a wooden chassis. It is not framed. Andrée Bars is a French painter. Having been strictly trained for 4 years by the American hyper-realist painter Mr. Ted Seth Jacobs, who himself inherited 19th century masters’ skills from his own professor, Andrée Bars learned the profession of painting in its purest tradition. She still applies these ancient masters’ technics on her art. Each painting contains at least three layers of oil paint. Andrée Bars applies her skills to hyper-realism on surrealist ideas. Although her paintings copy the reality to the extreme, they can not be qualified in a simple term of hyperrealism nor of trompe-l’oeil style, her artworks distinguish themselves for a kind of mysterious sweetness they convey to the spectator.

  • “Gaïa, the Mother Earth”, Blue & Green Map Hyper-realist Symbolist Oil Painting
    By Andrée Bars
    Located in Clermont-Ferrand, Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes
This hyper-realist oil painting by Andrée Bars tells the terrible story of our thirsty mother earth. In Greek mythology, Gaïa is a primordial goddess identified as the "Mother Goddess". A maternal ancestor of the divine races, she also gave birth to many creatures. Chtonian deity, people invoked and sacrificed light-colored animals to her. This goddess, sitting on her cloud, has a distraught and questioning look. She reaches out to the little hummingbirds who come to get water to save the planet. She doesn't even have any more water to offer them! A legend attributes to hummingbirds the will to participate, with their desperately weak forces, in putting out a forest fire by taking a drop of water in their beak. It is often made the symbol of small individual acts protecting our earth. In this painting, light colors are voluntarily chosen to correspond to the animals that were sacrificed for Gaïa. Lots of blue, the shade symbol of water, which we will miss so much. These light shades accentuate the contrast between the apparent calm and the desperate situation of our planet. Andrée Bars is a French painter. Having been strictly trained for 4 years by the American hyper-realist painter Mr. Ted Seth Jacobs, who himself inherited 19th century masters’ skills from his own professor, Andrée Bars learned the profession of painting in its purest tradition. By Andrée Bars
    Located in Clermont-Ferrand, Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes
This oil painting by Andrée Bars imagines that the gardener's will may even makes paper flowers grow on "mikado" stems ! The “mikado” is a game of patience where one has to lift small sticks, placed together at random, in a heap, without moving the others. The culture of the earth is similar to this game: you have to be patient, careful and observant. Take the plants at the right end and at the right time. Origami flowers...
