About the Item
Originally from North London, Andrew Cotton received his art education at the prestigious Central St. Martins School of Art in Holborn, London. His work is now found in galleries throughout the US, including luxury hotels, corporate headquarters, and private residences.
Although there is an edgy style that spans his repertoire of contemporary portraits, urban landscapes, and abstract explorations, there is also a certain authenticity that dates back generations. Cotton’s father and grandfather owned a printing company in East London, doing printing and design work for large retail and clothing stores. Cotton grew up seeing first-hand the techniques of block, offset, silkscreen, and commercial printing processes and pulls direct inspiration from those early formative years through his own use of wheat pasting, paper collage, and large-scale Xerox prints.
Being a teenager in East London during the graffiti boom, Cotton was immediately drawn to the pioneers of the UK graffiti scene. But, wanting to develop his career as an international artist, he found himself residing in New York City at the early age of 24. Here he found inspiration in the DIY aesthetic of the street art market.
Cotton’s signature raw aesthetic gained notoriety in the art circles of East Hampton. Working in contemporary portraiture, abstract painting and text driven proses, his visual vocabulary expanded.
Currently, his artwork is represented in contemporary galleries around the US and is showcased at a variety of international art fairs.

Styles, Movements, Aesthetics are all tools that artist, Andrew Cotton uses in his contemporary street portraits that give us a hybrid model of duality. From splatter-painted Pollock to Graffiti styled Basquiat, Cotton separates his subject in two; part anatomically correct portraiture juxtaposed with the preferred visual nomenclature of such identify. We see a split personality, the outward appearance and the inner (conceptual) appearance – simultaneously of these chosen movie stars, artist, musician, actresses, and celebrities, civic leaders, and poets. Originally from London, Andrew Cotton now calls South Florida home. His edgy style spans contemporary portraits, urban landscapes, and abstract explorations. This one of a kind, work on canvas titled "Wild Day in Gotham" measures 42x30" framed, canvas size is 40x28". It combines images of Ceravolo's original super hero paintings with a mixture of images from vintage comic books. Once Ceravolo is satisfied with the composition he then prints the one of a kind image on canvas at his studio using pigmented inks and then adds hand work to the art with spray paint, acrylic and polymer.
Ceravolo's paintings are in many influential corporate and private collections, including: ELTON JOHN, ROD STEWART, HUGH M. HEFNER, DAVID BRENNER, MONIQUE VAN VOOREN, WARNER BROS., RCA RECORDS AND SCHENLEY INDUSTRIES to name a few.
His Large scale paintings have received international acclaim for more four decades and his art came to popular attention when he was commissioned to create 5 large scale oil on canvas portraits of Linda Ronstadt, Jackson Browne, Frank Zappa, Neil Young and Hall and Oates for the lobby of The Palladium Theatre in New York City.
