About the Item
Abstracted figurative painting, original, oil on archival paper, framed. This work is part of the artist's ongoing series of imagery that draws on the diasporic private and collective memories of immigrants from Soviet Russia. This particular piece seeks to establish a certain distance from the viewer via its painterly handling of brushstrokes. The image depicted is of a group of soldiers sitting at an open clearing somewhere in the middle of a forest. It is a study for a larger painting by the artist, of the same scene.
