About the Item
Discover Anna Pennati's "Petita" (2012) – An Intimate Masterpiece of Contemporary Expression
Experience the power of intimate abstraction in this exquisite small-format work.
Anna Pennati's "Petita" (2012) represents a perfect example of the artist's evolution toward more intimate and personal expressions within her abstract vocabulary. This exceptional acrylic on board work, measuring 30 x 20 x 2 cm, captures the essence of Pennati's mature artistic vision in a concentrated, jewel-like format that invites close contemplation.
Created during a pivotal period in Pennati's career, "Petita" reflects the artist's conscious shift toward smaller, more introspective works. Following her international success, Pennati developed the urge to return to more intimate paintings – works that maintain the symbolic depth of her larger compositions while offering collectors a more personal dialogue with her artistic vision.
The compact dimensions of "Petita" make it an ideal acquisition for both seasoned collectors and those beginning their journey with contemporary Italian art. This format allows the work to integrate seamlessly into residential spaces while maintaining the powerful visual impact characteristic of Pennati's celebrated "Alchimie" series.
Born in 1961, Anna Pennati is a leading figure in contemporary Italian abstract art, with an international reputation built over 25 years of exhibitions across Europe and beyond. Her works are held in private collections worldwide and have been featured in prestigious venues from Milan's Miart to London galleries.
For discerning collectors seeking museum-quality works that combine accessibility with investment potential, "Petita" offers a rare opportunity to acquire an intimate piece by one of Italy's most compelling contemporary voices. Available through prestigious galleries, this work represents exceptional value in the growing market for Pennati's intimate-format masterpieces.

Born in Milan, from an early age Anna showed an innate attraction to drawing and colors. After graduating (Maestra d'Arte) from the Brera Academy of Fine Arts, she began her career in the lively and stimulating Milanese art scene. Her works were immediately received with enthusiasm by critics and the market.
Never satisfied with success, Anna Pennati ceaselessly continued her personal and artistic journey in search of the perfect synthesis.
She thus went through various stylistic phases: a draughts woman of rare skill, she soon broke away from the academic style to approach forms and colors where the graphic layout dominated the scene, with distortions of the figure that slowly tried to free itself.
There followed a phase in which the work was born from the canvas. In other words, the initial application of color was followed by the recognition of shapes and figures that the artist slowly brought to the surface from the depths of her mind.
In 2001 she participated in the Artexpo in New York and subsequently worked in London. The Artspace Galleries, Mayfair, one of the most prestigious art venues in the English capital, was her reference point/ address for that period.
In Milan she met Valery Giscard D'Estaing, former French president; a man of refined culture, who bought one of the portraits Anna Pennati dedicated to him.
Anna Pennati is an artist addressed to the international art world, in her 25-year career she has participated in over 50 exhibitions in private galleries and museum spaces, including the Museum of Capuchin Cultural Heritage of Assisi, Miart in Milan, Artspace Galleries in London and the Northwest Sezession in Wilhelmshaven (Germany).
Pennati cleverly switches from one subject to another with great range, from time to time using a style and a technique more appropriate to the particular purpose she sets. In general, her preferred medium is acrylic on canvas, which makes the strong signs prevail, alongside color, which is the absolute protagonist of her semi abstract paintings.
In the latest works, forms, colors and lines continuously chase each other, sometimes "collaborating," sometimes "excluding" each other to arrive at artworks where the research is aimed at the archetype of ideas. The works are thus the essential expression of thought and dialogue with the viewer both visually, and mentally, allowing themselves to be slowly perceived.
