About the Item
Brandon Gastinell, a Sacramento-born artist now based in Los Angeles, is celebrated for his captivating oil pastel creations that explore the human form with vibrant colors and bold strokes, inspired by impressionism. Drawing from personal experiences, particularly his father's illness, Gastinell's portraiture offers a profound reflection on the human condition, marked by a deep connection to anatomy.
Brandon Gastinell created this 30-inch high, 40-inch wide by 1.5-inch deep abstract figurative artwork with oil stick on canvas. This artwork is wired and ready to hang. The sides of this artwork are painted as a continuation of the front. The artist signs the artwork on the back. Free delivery is available for those in the local Los Angeles area, and affordable worldwide shipping is available for US and international art collectors. A certificate of authenticity issued by the art gallery is included with this unique painting.
Transitioning from digital art, Gastinell found a medium that resonates with his vision—oil pastels—allowing him to convey the essence of his subjects, notably black male ballerinas depicted in serene poses that challenge conventional notions of grace and athleticism. His technique, influenced by artists like Francis Bacon, seeks to push boundaries and challenge societal norms, particularly regarding diversity, gender, and the human psyche.
Gastinell's work, including his acclaimed Black Ballerina Anatomy Collection, has earned recognition for its dynamic compositions and emotional depth, with pieces acquired by prestigious institutions like the Crocker Art Museum. Living and creating in Los Angeles, he draws inspiration from the city's cultural landscape, creating both colorful, large-scale artworks and profound monochromatic pieces through his black pigment series.
Artspace Warehouse has been representing and exhibiting Gastinell's original artworks since 2024. The gallery has been a 1stdibs partner since 2014 with consistently excellent reviews from clients worldwide. View AllPaloma's Dance - Original Oil on Canvas Abstract Figurative Dancer Painting
Located in Los Angeles, CA
Mark Acetelli’s oil and mixed media paintings awaken the viewer’s sense of exploration and adventure; they demand a new discovery. His artworks exhibit a chemistry of complexity and spontaneity, a lyrical abstraction of frenzied marks, many of which previously lay hidden, buried beneath strong layers of self-taught expression. Those truths, first obscured and then obvious, aim to engage the viewer, allowing them to explore their own interpretation. His figurative abstract artworks are represented by Artspace Warehouse in Los Angeles and have been exhibited and collected worldwide, including London, New York, and Hong Kong.
This original oil painting on canvas measures 20 inches high by 16 inches wide. It is wired and ready to hang. The sides of the artwork are painted black and it does not require framing. It is signed by the artist on the front of the artwork and titled on the back. Convenient local Los Angeles delivery. Affordable Continental U.S. and international shipping are available. A certificate of authenticity issued by Artplex Gallery is included.
Mark Acetelli was born in Detroit into an artistic household. Mark’s mother herself was a painter and some of his earliest memories were the smell of turpentine and oil paints. Growing up surrounded by his mother's work, she inspired and encouraged him to become an artist.
Acetelli’s paintings are inspired by the intensely personal introspective journey of life, from the ever-changing complexities of love, loss, birth, and death. The context of his work he describes as, “Absence and Presence” pertaining to how someone or something can be physically gone, but the essence still remains. Capturing the physical mixed with spirituality on canvas. His application of paint is an extension of that thought process. He works by continuously building up and tearing down, layer upon layer, adding and subtracting. A visceral dance between the conscious and the unconscious until the emotion is expressed.
Acetelli’s paintings may go through multiple incarnations with the past lying just beneath the surface, adding to its overall dimension and depth. In his work, Acetelli seeks to evoke a feeling rather than depict a defined image. He uses primarily oils and encaustics to create thickly layered canvases with emotive bursts of color. Creating a world where imagination and reality come together. Acetelli’s works can be found in many private and corporate collections around the world, including Bill Withers...
