This 1943 gouache on paper scene is by noted Expressionist West Coast artist Byron Randall (1918–1999). In 1939, Newsweek Magazine called Randall, "the find of the season". He was married to Bay Area artist Emmy Lou Packard and was assistant to Diego Rivera. His work is held in permanent collections of the Phillips Collection, the California Palace of the Legion of Honor, the Montreal Museum of Fine Arts, and the Oakland Museum of California. Painted in Fiji while he was a part of the Merchant Marines during WWII.
Estate stamped on the back. Unframed. Shipped in a standard sized archival mat.
