About the Item
"Arlequín en rojo" is a portrait painting, acrylic on wood d by Venezuelan artist Carmelo Niño (b. 1951). Since he first appeared in the local scene, with his early individual exhibitions at the Centro de Bellas Artes in Maracaibo, his native city and the place of his formative period, Niño has distinguished himself as an excellent figurative painter. His characters and scenes have always been submerged in strange atmospheres, atmospheres that are charged with a magical realism.
The artwork is signed and dated on the front and accompanied by a certificate of Authenticity signed by the artist.
Born August 30, 1951 in Maracaibo, Venezuela. Carmelo Niño studies at the Neptalí Rincón Art School in Maracaibo. From 1970 up to the present day he has shown his paintings in a number of national salons in both individual and collective exhibitions and art fairs in his country and abroad: Colombia, Peru, Brazil, El Salvador, Uruguay, Mexico, United States, Spain, France, Monaco, Italy, Portugal, Czechoslovakia, Poland, Hungary, China and Japan. In 1986 he attends the Venice Biennial.
Carmelo Niño has been granted significant distinctions and appointments. His work is represented in the most important national museums, ministries and embassies, as well as in private and public collections in South, Central and North America, Europe and Asia.
