About the Item
Happy times -- nothing more joyful, adventurous or as
freeing as jumping into cold lake water on a hot summer's day. Everyone is
drenched, shivering, but going back in- one more time. Plugged ears, runny
noses, goosebumps and soaked bathing suits - what could be more fun?
Hamburgers, hotdogs, potato salad and ice cream await the survivors.
Another July day at Moon Lake.
Artist Carole Garland captures figures in motion, enjoying the movement of
arms and legs thrusting forward. The leap into the air of the three figures
gives momentum to the work, while the lower standing figures give pause.
Garland keeps the background woodland abstracted so as not to distract from
the figures.
This 40"x30" Oil on Wood Panel has wood sides which can serve as a frame.
The back is wired for easy hanging.
Carole Garland studied figure drawing at the Art Institute of Chicago and
has taken workshops with Fine Art Oil painters Frank Serrano, Jeff Horn,
Calvin Liang and others. She is grounded in classical painting traditions
while David Gallup, her latest "influencer", has encouraged
experimentation. Garland has shown in many Southern California venues and
is in numerous art collections in Los Angeles and throughout the country.

Carole Garland
Carole Garland, born and raised in Chicago, graduated from Knox College, Galesburg, Ill., She studied figure drawing and oil painting at the Art Institute of Chicago and the University of the Americas, Mexico City. After moving to Los Angeles she studied privately with Keith Finch, Venice. Concurrent with her art pursuits, Garland worked as a magazine editor, publicist, director's assistant, book editor, and sales executive. After a brief hiatus from painting, she looked to the outdoors for inspiration and began plein air watercolor studies with Don Blaisdell, UCLA.
