Carolina Adán is a Spanish artist who became well known for creating a number of witty and thought-provoking images. Through a unique mix of pop and street art, her artworks are simultaneously seductive and confrontational, challenging common stereotypes and their artificiality. In order to more closely connect with her audience, Carolina Adán is pushing us to question societal hierarchy and the perception of identity. By incorporating elements of slick fashion and vibrant advertising imagery, Carolina’s work juxtaposes notions of glamour and flawlessness in our contemporary world. Her amazing artworks feature strong references to the real world and particularly to the human figure, with a mission to create emphasis in the narrative portrayed. Inspired by an array of movements, including the pop universe, female mythology, and urban art, Carolina Adán shares her unique part of the personal universe with her audience. She looks up to Malcolm T. Liepke, Egon Schiele, Klimt, or Banksy among others. Carolina's art can be classified in three major areas: her more personal, concept-based works, focused on her passions and concerns; live art created at various events around the island of Majorca where she lives; and portrait commissions reflecting her unmistakable style. But without a doubt, her biggest influence is the people around her. Her passion in painting has always been to capture the image that the person projects without intending to. Portraits with souls that capture an instant feeling. Carolina Adán started her academic training in the field of science influenced by family tradition, but something inside her always attracted her to the world of art. The turning point was she got accepted as a student of the painter Antonio López, taking a summer course that would change her life forever. She decided to bet on her vocation and entered the Faculty of Fine Arts of the Complutense University. Carolina currently lives in Palma de Majorca and she declares to be in love with the island, which has become an essential part of her work.
