"Después de árbol" immerses us in a contemplative landscape, where emotion and nature intertwine. Dominated by deep blues, rich greens, and earthy tones, the composition evokes a vegetal world suspended between reality and dream. The flowing brushwork, especially in the canopy of the trees, conveys movement and lends a sense of atmospheric depth.
The title suggests a moment following a significant event—emotional or natural—where the tree becomes a witness or symbolic anchor. The interplay of light and shadow, and the merging of forms, invite a poetic reading of the scene, with the tree standing not merely as a natural element, but as a narrative or emotional center.
Herr brings her distinctive visual language to this work: suggestive, interpretative, and rich in chromatic and formal nuances. The presence of black in the upper branches adds dramatic contrast, intensifying the sense of mystery.
ABOUT THE ARTIST
Celia Herr was born in Segovia, Spain.
She has a Degree in Fine Arts with a postgraduate focus in Advertising Drawing .
With over twenty years of experience as both exhibiting artist and instructor, she has taught drawing and painting in art academies, schools, and also given private lessons to children and adults .
Her last solo exhibition at Palacio Quintanar in Segovia (Spain) held from November 29, 2024, to February 23, 2025. showcased her work in three formats: heavily textured oil painting, black-and-white ink washes and drawings, and recycled glass sculpture.
Her works feature deep colors and expressive brushwork to translate observed reality into sculpted painting .
Using Indian ink on delicate paper, she creates two-dimensional works with graphic lines referred to as “skeletons of memory” .
In her sculptures, she repurposes glass vessels—such as cups and perfume bottles—into totemic forms that juxtapose fragility and interior weight, engaging viewers in a reflective dialogue .
