In this particular painting the abstract creation had the feel of the ocean, so he painted an image of a young Marilyn Monroe over the abstract painting he just created. She is painted in Ceravolo's instantly recognizable urban pop art style. The painting of a young Marilyn having a tug of war at the beach while "G" looks on wearing his swim trunks features Marilyn wearing a stars and stripes bathing suit, while having a remarkable look of innocence on her face. Ceravolo's paintings combine abstract and realistic work on the same large scale canvas. Sometimes the abstract work is in the form of Ceravolo's trademark "illusion" which appears to be "floating" in front of the canvas, other times the abstract work is a spontaneous application of paint which adds color and texture and is in perfect compliment to the gray realistic image.
