About the Item
The Prodigal Daughter by British artist & author Charlie Mackesy, is rarely seen on the market. This particular piece was painted onto canvas in 2007 and is in excellent condition. It bears Mackesy's signature on the front, bottom right in oil, and has also been signed on the verso & dated.
Mackesy references the parable of the Prodigal Son in Luke 15, which speaks to the universal human experience of sin, repentance, and the need for God's grace, offering hope and encouragement to all who feel lost or estranged from God. He adapts it with a richly coloured & loving embrace of a father figure & daughter, and paints the words:
'This is the story of the prodigal daughter - It should really be called the Loving Father - who waited every day for his girl to come home. She did not expect him to wait - but when he saw her from afar he ran to her & hugged & kissed her x Luke 15 x x x'
