About the Item
I Wonder What's Beyond The Clouds by British artist Charlotte Aiken. Surrey based artist, Charlotte Aiken, responds to her surroundings through the medium of paint, working on a large scale & allowing her to capture the space and sublimity that nature provides.
This work developed from a passion in the sublime and an interest in observing that which is usually overlooked. I collaborated with an aerial artist to capture various movements, focusing on the in between motions and the awkward transitions through the act of falling. The current state of the world has left many of us feeling lost like we’re living in a dream and the ground has been taken from under our feet. The dynamic blues and pastel yellows contrast the falling figure, allowing us to be absorbed in the beauty and colours the sky provides, reminding us that nature continues to provide peace around us no matter what.
Charlotte graduated from the Sir John CASS School of Art in 2017 and went on to win The Graduate Art Prize, ARTIQ. She had a solo show at The Cranleigh Arts Centre after completing a nine-month residency at Hurtwood House School.
