About the Item

Jupiter's Tree (El árbol de Júpiter). Big format Oil on canvas Beautiful garden by Chico Montilla. Measurements: (H) 97 x (W) 130 x 3 cm. Framed 109 x 142 x 5 cm. Colorful expressionist view of a garden with plants and water pond. Signed in the lower left corner Artisan style frame. ABOUT THE ARTIST Chico Montilla (Granada-Spain, 1961). In 1980 he traveled to Barcelona where he alternated his daily classes at the Massana School with frequent visits to the Picasso Museum, the Miró Foundation and the Güell Park. If the first two excite him, the last shocks him greatly. Faced with the work of Gaudí, the greatest of the Modernists, his spirit is ecstatic with the primitive and timeless flavors that are breathed in the sacred precinct. Montilla's paintings begin to fill with suggestive luminosity and intense color. Thanks to this new form of expression, he will materialize a series of canvases that will be in one of the "La Caixa" rooms in Barcelona. In the spring of 1983 he traveled to Madrid, where from then until 1988 he exhibited in various galleries. He returned to Granada in the summer of 1996. By chance, the director of the Reina Sofía Museum of Modern Art (Madrid) visited his studio. Sensitized by his painting, she suggested a series of large-format canvases to be exhibited in one of the rooms of the museum. In 2003, the Spanish Post and Telegraph Philatelic Service published a self-adhesive card with the reproduction of eight of his works on stamps, with the theme "Landscapes". As well, in 2005, published again a self-adhesive card with the reproduction of four of his works on stamps.

"Iva" Oil Painting 39" x 39" inch by Andrey Remnev
Located in Culver City, CA
"Iva" Oil Painting 39" x 39" inch by Andrey Remnev ARTIST BIO: "My birth place is Yakhroma town, in the vicinity of Moscow. It is situated on high hills, from where broad Bruegelian vistas are open. The uneven terrain with significant differences of high and low; a canal between the Moskva river and the Volga; small rivers, woods and villages; a nearby ancient town of Dmitrov, which is equal to Moscow in age; ships cruising the canal and trains outdistancing them – all this I saw from my window since my early years. It was a view that embraced all the diversity of the world. This is why I can say that the impressions of my childhood and youth – beautiful nature and remarkable people – are the most important ones. In the museum of Moscow's St. Andronic Monastery I copied the best examples of the old Russian painting...

Pilgrims Waiting at the Gate, Women in the Arts, Hope and Wisdom, Oil, Nature
By Jeanie Tomanek
Located in Houston, TX
Pilgrims Waiting at the Gate shows that flowers, birds and snow are symbols for emotional states or story elements. Dogs sometimes accompany the pale bald “Everywoman” protagonist on her journeys that often take place beneath a starry moonlit sky. She has been called a mythic artist, telling ancient stories that never grow old. Pilgrims are beneath the Moon approaching the Gate as seen in Pilgrims at the Gate in the oil painting on canvas. Even when they are in a quandary or in danger, I always try to show a glimmer of hope and wisdom—that they will solve the riddle and make it through, stronger and with dignity. Being bald and shorn of any particular identity, they become all women.” She is also a published poet and her paintings have appeared as cover art for literary journals and poetry collections. Recently her painting “Thoreau’s Pumpkin” was included in the Hudson River Museum...

Winter landscape. 1984, canvas, oil, 60x80 cm
Located in Riga, LV
Winter landscape. 1984, canvas, oil, 60x80 cm Slepyshev Anatoly Stepanovich (1932 - 2016) - Soviet and Russian painter, sculptor, graphic artist. Anatoly Slepyshev was a distinguished Russian artist and a recognised master who had a great talent and a distinctly recognisable style that cannot be confused with anyone. The most characteristic feature of his paintings is a swirl, maelstrom of colourful formations, vigorously, rapidly, almost frantically put on canvas in a burst of sudden emotion, of spontaneous sensuality. The artist brilliantly managed to blend the subjects of the Russian hinterland, simple village life with horse-driven carriages, small humble churches and familiar landscapes with refined, pompous images of French Rococo, the atmosphere inherent in the works of Jean-Antoine Watteau. This liberal, highly personal interpretation of the sophisticated French motifs of the XVIII century, processed by means of dashing Russian folklore, sometimes even containing vulgar, staggering elements, is very typical for many works by Slepyshev.
