About the Item
Packed with colour and texture, "No Signal", by British contemporary artist Dan Parry-Jones captures a fleeting urban moment with cinematic intensity. A solitary woman walks through a sunlit Los Angeles street, surrounded by faint signage, traffic cues, and architectural traces that clearly place her within the visual vocabulary of L.A. The scene suggests movement, anonymity, and a quiet sense of disconnection, as if she is wandering between destinations—alone, yet immersed in the hum of city life.
The composition is rendered in Parry-Jones’s signature blend of acrylic, collage, and screen print, creating a richly layered, textured surface that feels both nostalgic and contemporary. A warm, sun-faded palette of soft ochres, pastel pinks, dusty blues, and muted grays echoes the dry, hazy atmosphere of Southern California. Subtle geometric grids and architectural forms bring an almost blueprint-like quality to the background, adding rhythm and structure to the emotional narrative.
No Signal speaks to the dissonance of modern urban life—where digital saturation meets real-world solitude—making it a compelling piece for collectors drawn to contemporary figurative work, urban environments, and art that explores the psychological spaces of modernity.

DAN PARRY-JONES (b. 1971, United Kingdom) A textured bright colour palette and sweet nostalgic figures brimming with images of palm trees, swimming pools and timeless Palm Springs-like mountainous scenery are all ingredients mixed media artist Dan Parry-Jones uses to create his memorable works of art. A graduate of University of Derby (1994, BA Hons in Graphic Design) and Winchester School of Art (1991), Parry-Jones is fascinated by the relationship between the manmade and nature. Parry-Jones experiments with a style of painting that continues to evolve after spending time in Europe, particularly southern Spain; these new paintings juxtapose elements both organic and artificial, as panoramic mountain ranges provide a backdrop to flat, still pools and brightly painted walls. His work bears the same stylistic hallmarks that draw influence from Richard Dierbenkorn and Robert Rauschenburg, with shapes of flat colour set against highly textured areas where paint and glued paper has been scraped back to reveal many layers beneath. In sharp contrast to this scarred and sanded background, are sharply focused areas of screen-printed detail featuring his distinctively nostalgic subject matter; kids, cars, buildings, that bring the viewer back to a bygone time on the fringes of our memory. Dan Parry-Jones is based in Bristol, United Kingdom and is represented by DECORAZONgallery.

'Azure & Sand', California Figurative Abstraction, Pacific Art League, Palo Alto
By Amanda Danitschek
Located in Santa Cruz, CA
Initialed lower left, 'A.D.' for Amanda Danitschek (American, born 1956) and painted circa 2010. Additionally signed twice, verso, and titled, 'Against All Odds (12 Stories)'
A substantial Modernist figural oil showing a view of a woman standing before an azure band of distant ocean.
Born in Delano, California, Amanda Danitschek first studied art and design at San Jose City College and, subsequently, at West Valley College, Saratoga. Danitschek explores her fascination with postures, expressions, and colors in her collages and paintings through unconventionally observed figures that appear untethered from the physical world.
Speaking of her work, the artist has said: "My figurative paintings are a menagerie of quirky creatures that evoke a curious sense of dislocation. They are redolent of actors in a play, characters from a novel and depression-era survivors. I am fascinated by postures, expressions, colors and textures. I eliminate detail so that the persona is left with only their essence. The alternative reality is shared with birds, boats and ethereal costumes. The stage is set and the figures are finding their path; their role in life."
