About Artist
Dan, Uduak-obong Tony is an artist from Akwa ibom state, Nigeria. Born on May 1994. Raised in Ini Local Government Area, Akwa Ibom state. Dan is a graduate of the Department of Fine and Industrial Arts, University of Uyo, with a Bachelor of Arts degree in painting. After which he went for a one-year national service in Ogun state where he taught visual arts in Dupmos Group of school Ijebu Ode.
He is a full-time studio artist in Uyo, Akwa Ibom. He is a figurative painter, His inspirations are drawn from the daily life activities of those around him, the beauty of life, and the unconscious activities of humans. For him, all these give him the drive to express these wonders in art and to solve the problems of society.
Uduak-obong uses acrylic, oil and charcoal as a means of expressing himself and includes Nsibidi motifs on the clothes like a mirror, love, congress, journey, speech etc to communicate in the native tongue to show how Africans (the Ibibio) see themselves.
