About the Item

The inspiration for Daniel Wimmer’s art consistently stems from the human body. He is particularly fascinated by the beautiful colors of the skin and is constantly searching for intriguing lighting situations. The sculptural aspect of painting is clearly recognizable in Wimmer’s works. By focusing on form and color rather than details, he is able to work with a sense of freedom and energy, which enhances the plasticity of his paintings. In his pieces, Wimmer enjoys playing with contrasts: warm and cold, light and dark, various textures, as well as soft and hard transitions. This approach often gives his work a strong abstract quality. Nevertheless, it is essential for Wimmer to depict a specific moment and make the atmosphere palpable. Through his art, Wimmer aims to offer viewers the opportunity to identify with the subject matter. His works evoke memories and associations, transforming the ordinary into something extraordinary. A carefully planned composition and the use of symbolic elements often create multiple layers of meaning in Wimmer’s works, inviting the viewer to look beyond the obvious and bring their own interpretation. Biography Born in 1982 in Salzburg, Daniel Wimmer was fortunate to grow up in an art-rich environment. His father was also a painter, and from an early age, Wimmer was surrounded by art supplies and picture books. This early influence ignited a deep and lasting fascination with art, especially painting from various periods. After completing his training as a certified nurse, Wimmer finally found the time to devote himself to his true passion. He considers himself primarily self-taught, having acquired the necessary knowledge from old textbooks, various courses, the internet, and by copying both old and modern masters. Above all, Wimmer’s continuous engagement with art of all kinds and daily drawing have been key to his development. Wimmer has always been particularly fascinated by the interplay of light and the human form, a subject that remains at the heart of his artistic practice today. His works have been exhibited in prestigious galleries and art fairs, including the Sturm und Drang Gallery in Linz, the Charter Project Gallery in Leipzig, the Phoenix Gallery in Cologne, the Grand Saloon in Bad Säckingen, and the Art and ArtCouture Gallery in Miltenberg. Daniel Wimmer is also regularly represented at various art fairs both nationally and internationally.

Queen Kong- Florence, Italy, 2021
Located in Hudson, NY
ABOUT Born in 1967, Piussi was raised in Florence where he studied at the Istituto d’arte, majoring in sculpture and painting and completing his artistic education at Milano’s Brera Art Academy. He lives in Florence, pursuing painting, bas-reliefs in terracotta and in bronze, and bronze sculpture. Piussi presents an ideal, almost childlike world which can be found below everyday events, a step outside the flow of time, yet still a part of contemporary life, with a nod to Alex Katz and David Hockney. The drama, or lack thereof, is played out in simplified, almost abstract spaces. Pure in intent, Piussi’s oeuvre are inspired by the Early Renaissance. Snapshot images of a world reduced to its essence, the apparently comic-book style has echoes of Giotto, Paolo Uccello, of medieval illuminations. Rather than mimicking the appearance of nature, Piussi reaches for its essence, without distracting details. Women stand on the shore of quintessentially peaceful seas, self-contained, at ease, unwitting replicas of classical goddesses - a proud diver echoes Neptune holding a trident. “Queen Kong...

Maro on Chrome and Yellow Vinyl Modern Side Chair - Original Oil Painting
By Andrew S. Conklin
Located in Chicago, IL
This classically painted figure study demonstrates the artists understanding of the human figure. A study for a series of larger paintings based on motion capture studios. Here the model is placed in a contrived position on a midcentury modern chair surrounded by props used in the motion capture process. Andrew S. Conklin Maro on Chrome & Yellow Vinyl Modern Side Chair, 2016 oil on panel 18h x 13w in 45.72h x 33.02w cm Motion Capture Paintings, Chicago My recent painting series describes the reality of motion capture environments by showing the interplay between female athletes and male technicians. These paintings are meant to explore conventions of female representation in Western figurative art and to contrast this past practice with the contemporary imagery of that subject via computer-based image technology. This project was instigated by a number of things: first, by my abiding interest in depicting the human form in paint, as I find its versatility in a design, its invitation to empathy, and its difficulty, to be something worth attempting to depict with success. In addition, my curiosity regarding the new ways to depict the form using electronic technology seem to challenge to the traditional methods I rely upon, and I wanted to comment on the similarities and differences between the studios of the painters and the technicians. In this way, I aim to continue my investigation into what I see as the contrasting quality of human nature, and symbolically represent opposites such as mind and body, analog and digital, realism and idealism, terrestrial and the transcendent. Andrew S. Conklin is a figurative painter. He holds an MFA from the Academy of Art University, and studied painting at the National Academy of Design in New York City with Harvey Dinnerstein...
