Born in 1982 in Manzanillo, Cuba, artist Darwin Estacio Martinez honed his artistic skills at the Professional Academy of Fine Arts "El Alba" in Holguin, and furthered his education at the prestigious Higher Institute of Arts in Havana. Martinez creates original oil paintings that captivate with their cropped portraiture, flattened forms, and seductive emotional detachment. Currently, Martinez holds the esteemed positions of professor at the National Fine Arts Academy (San Alejandro) and the Higher Institute of Arts in Havana, where he imparts his knowledge and passion to aspiring artists.
