About the Item
In "Caripela," Diego Tirigall presents a raw, minimalist expressionist portrait that diverges from his usual style. The 80 cm by 100 cm painting draws the viewer into a deep emotional dialogue with its intense use of browns and subtle blues.
The background, painted in a rich brown acrylic, creates a dense, earthy atmosphere. The face, delineated with bold strokes of oil bar, displays wide eyes and an open mouth, conveying a mixture of suffering, torment, and fear. Subtle blue touches on the right eye and mouth add depth and contrast, highlighting areas of emotional tension.
Characteristic drips in the painting, typical of Tirigall’s style, appear more controlled here, adding dynamic texture and suggesting immediacy and speed in the brushstrokes. This work, possibly an exploratory self-portrait, shows Tirigall experimenting with new techniques, revealing a moment of introspection and authenticity.
"Caripela" is powerfully expressive despite its minimalist approach. Through masterful use of oil, acrylic, and color, Tirigall offers a glimpse into raw human emotions, expanding his artistic repertoire and challenging the viewer's expectations. This piece reaffirms his status as a contemporary art master unafraid to explore the depths of the human condition.

Diego Tirigall, born in Argentina in 1976 and now residing in Spain, grew up in an environment overshadowed by a hoarding disorder. Immersed in a family of antique dealers and art restorers, his childhood home more closely resembled an overcrowded warehouse brimming with antiquities and works of art awaiting restoration, far from an ideal space for conventional childhood. This setting, saturated with aged and decaying relics, profoundly shaped his youth, sparking within him a rebellious spirit and a deep yearning for liberation. This thirst for liberation found its conduit in art, though not the kind prevalent in his familial surroundings. Tirigall first veered towards digital art, seemingly an effort to dissociate from the haunting memories of his childhood. His artistic rebellion ultimately found resonance in the realms of street art and expressionism—styles celebrated for their spontaneity, dynamism, and refusal to conform to traditional norms. Tirigall's oeuvre offers a critical exploration of contemporary themes, including artificial intelligence, screen addiction, and decentralization. His artistry features recurring elements like vintage robots, skulls, logos, and words, a subtle nod to the profound influence of Basquiat and Warhol on his craft. An autodidact, Tirigall learned through trial and error, sidestepping formal instruction. His successful tenure as a graphic designer and art director equipped him with a unique, deliberately casual approach to handling layers, spaces, forms, and colors—an artful demonstration of his comprehension of the rules he consciously breaks. His works have earned global recognition, with exhibitions spanning from Seoul to Beverly Hills. He has also been featured on the cover of SaatchiArt's "New Masters" catalog. Beyond his creative pursuits, Tirigall invests time helping fellow artists enhance their profiles and promotional strategies. Diego Tirigall's journey, from a childhood circumscribed by restrictions to an artistic career abounding in creativity and acclaim, stands as a compelling testament to rebellion as a catalyst for creativity.

"Nestcafe Society" and Corporate Ideals
A striking painting by Diego Tirigall prompts deep thoughts about the relationship between appearances and reality. The painting features a rough sketch of a well-known instant coffee brand logo with words "N3stcafe Society" beneath it. This serves as a powerful symbol of the illusions that society and corporate ideals can create.
The Illusion of High-Quality Coffee
The painting highlights the gap between the promise of high-quality coffee and the reality of mass-produced, preservative-filled coffee packaged in an industrial jar. The large axe that cuts through the words "N3stcafe Society" symbolizes the destruction of these false promises and the consequences of pretending to be something one is not. The red coffee jar...

Domingo grew up in Palma de Mallorca in Spain, where his mother was a painter and his father painted cars. Surrounded by “paint and fumes”, he explored his heritage and learnt about artists like Diego Velázquez, Francisco Goya, Pablo Picasso and Salvador Dalí. His art studies in London and subsequent political science degree took him to Wall Street, New York, in 1999, before he embarked on a career in the music industry and wrote lyrics for Michael Jackson. He was hugely influenced by pop culture and the aesthetics of Andy Warhol and Jean-Michel Basquiat.
Created in oil and acrylic, Domingo’s works incorporate mixed media, collage and graffiti. His poetic imagination is visualised through layers of text and visual cues including symbols and iconic brands and figures. He says his work is a “conversation of colours”, with its distinctive style identified by the raw strokes of paint. Each piece is designed to have a positive influence on the viewer.
Domingo’s art is collected by celebrities including Leonardo DiCaprio, Johnny Depp and Orlando Bloom...
